Amon-Ra St. Brown is an American football wide receiver for the Detroit Lions of the National Football League. He also played for the USC Trojans. He is the No. 112 overall pick in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Here's the 10 Facts You Didn’t Know About Amon-Ra St. Brown.
10. Amon-Ra St. Brown’s mother, Miriam Brown is from Leverkusen, Germany. His father, John Brown, was a bodybuilder in the 1980s and a two-time amateur Mr. Universe.
His brother, Equanimeous, currently plays for the New Orleans Saints, while his other brother, Osiris, played college football at Stanford.
Along with his brothers, St. Brown has dual American and German citizenship. St. Brown is also a community ambassador for United Health Share Ministries, a Christian healthcare non-profit organization.
In addition to English, St. Brown also speaks German and French. When he was growing up, he went to school in France for a semester, and he went to a French school out in Orange County from preschool to sixth grade, and that’s how he learned French.
9. Amon-Ra St. Brown’s father chose his children’s names from an interest in names he considered African, particularly Egyptian ones.
Amon-Ra’s name comes from Amun-Ra, who is the god of the air, the sun, and creation – seen as the creator of all things – in Egyptian mythology; he was seen as king of the gods. Amun-Ra was also specifically worshipped as the head of the city of Thebes.
His father wanted to give his sons unique names to help them stand out. His father also added “St.” to their last name, believing it would look more distinctive on a sports jersey.
St. Brown doesn’t want his kids to have a regular name like his father John. He said, “No, for sure not going John. It definitely has to be something, the word I would use is exotic. A name that probably no one has or very few people have. And I believe, like my dad says, I believe in the power of names. I think it starts when you introduce yourself. You introduce yourself as your name, so I think names have a lot of power. So, no, definitely no John. No disrespect to my dad. But can’t do the regular John, so it’s definitely got to be something different.”

8. His father trained him from a young age, contributing to his impressive strength. His father also introduced him and his brothers to healthy eating with a proper diet.
St. Brown started lifting PVC pipes in his garage with his brothers at age 6. At age 7, his father placed a calendar on his bedroom wall.
His father challenged him to do 100 pushups every night, in increments of 20 or however he desired. He had to sign his name on the calendar once the task was completed on a nightly basis. Thirty days later, his father would check if he had completed the exercises.
As a young player, St. Brown earned the nickname “Freddy Krueger” because opponents were afraid of him on the field.
7. Detroit Lions wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown attended Servite High School in Anaheim, California, as a freshman before transferring to Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, California.
As a senior in 2017, he had 72 receptions for 1,320 yards and 20 touchdowns. A five-star recruit ranked second among receiver prospects, St. Brown committed to the University of Southern California to play college football.
He played with future USC teammate JT Daniels at Mater Dei. The first day he reported to USC, Julio Jones and Terrell Owens were working out there. He was able to get his cleats and work out with them. He thought Julio was insane and said that it was awesome to be able to watch him run routes.
He was also able to work out with Odell Beckham Jr. and Antonio Brown and thought that was dope. When he was in college, St. Brown majored in Business Administration.
6. On January 2, 2021, St. Brown announced on his Instagram account that he would be declaring for the 2021 NFL Draft and was projected by CBS Sports as a late first-round pick.
After St. Brown worked out at the NFL Combine, the NFL released its report on St. Brown by senior NFL analyst Lance Zierlein.
The report placed St. Brown at a second to third-round projection and predicted he would be an average starter.
Other scouting reports, including ones by Pro Football Focus and The Draft Network, placed St. Brown anywhere from a third to fourth round-selection, with emphasis on him being a second-string receiver. St. Brown famously memorized the names of the 16 wide receivers drafted before him in his class, using it as motivation.
In addition to demanding perfection on the practice field, he maintains a daily routine of catching 202 passes from the Jugs machine, completing 200 sit-ups and juggling and catching a tennis ball 500 times off a wall to improve his hand-eye coordination.
5. Amon-Ra St. Brown’s favorite movies, TV shows, meals
His favorite movie is “Avatar”. His favorite TV shows are “You” and “Money Heist”. If he only had one meal left, he would eat a burger, some nice fries and his drink would be sweet tea.
Some of his favorite burger joints are In-N-Out, Five Guys, and Shake Shack. He loves spaghetti. He likes putting ketchup on his spaghetti after he makes it. He uses red sauce and he puts ketchup on top of it. He also likes putting ketchup on burritos.

He said, “I could teleport to here or wherever I want back in a matter of seconds. So those two are definitely ones that I think you can’t beat, being able to travel that fast or just snap your finger and be somewhere else.”
He was asked what position in the NFL would he play if he could play any other position and he said, “Quarterback seems fun, but I played running back growing up. One position I think would be cool would be edge rusher on defense because you get to rush the passer and get sacks.”
3. Amon-Ra St. Brown’s favorite place, athlete, president, shoes, game
His favorite place to travel to is Paris. One person he’d like to meet is former-president Barack Obama. His favorite athlete of all time is Kobe Bryant. He likes playing Call of Duty.
If he had to choose a pair of shoes to wear for the rest of his life, he would wear the all-white Air Force Ones. He also loves wearing Vans as well.
NFL WR Amon-Ra St. Brown said he will never get a tattoo. He said, “Would you ever put a bumper sticker on a Lamborghini? To me, putting tattoos on your body is a lifetime commitment. I don’t see why I would want something on my body for my whole life.”
2. Amon-Ra St. Brown’s girlfriend
St. Brown’s girlfriend is Brooklyn Adams. The couple met in high school, where they became close while working on an English assignment.
They started dating at the end of St. Brown’s sophomore year. Adams is a registered nurse who attends St. Brown’s games and supports him through his health battles and other challenges.
She’s also involved in his life off the field, spending time with his family and attending family get-togethers. St. Brown and Adams have a long-distance relationship because St. Brown plays in Detroit and Adams goes to nursing school in California. They often meet on weekends.
The couple’s relationship is featured in the Netflix documentary series “Receiver”, which shows how they support each other as they pursue their individual dreams.

1. It was Day 3 of the 2021 NFL Draft and the former USC star couldn’t fathom how St. Brown's mixed feelings about joining the Lions far he’d slipped.
He vented to his older brother and he told him, “If there’s one team I don’t want to go to, that’s the Lions. Just please, I don’t want to go to the Lions.”
Shortly after, he received a call from a Detroit area code. It was newly hired Lions general manager Brad Holmes telling him that they would take him as the 112th selection.
Although thankful the wait was over, St. Brown wasn’t overjoyed. He said, “I’m from Southern California, and Detroit, they didn’t win any games. They weren’t ever shown on TV. It’s not a team I really watched, besides Megatron. I wasn’t really tuned into Detroit football.” In a full-circle moment, he now says he wants to finish his career in the Motor City. “I was happy, but I was unhappy at the same time,” St. Brown said. “But looking back on it, it’s probably for the best. I don’t think there’s another team where I could’ve done what I’ve done here with the people that are around me.”
